Project: Utilization of Agronomically Important Genes in the Wild Rice for the Development of High-yielding Climate-resilient Rice VarietiesMy research underlines genome-wide association study to develop rice seeds with high tolerance to salt stress. Thus contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by enhancing the farmers' income through crop improvement. Hence, I am honoured and awarded as a 'Returning Expert' by GIZ/CIM (the German Federal Employment Agency, the Centre for International Migration). Here I did-- Strategically planning, developing methodology and leading research within preset budgets and deadline on crop improvement for reducing poverty and hunger through rice science, improving the health and welfare of rice farmers and consumers- Collection and phenotypic screening of wild rice accessions for salinity stress tolerance traits- Utilizing Next Generation Sequencing NGS data for genetic mapping- Fieldwork for data collection, introgression of salt stress tolerant QTLs/genes into high-yielding rice cultivars by MAS breeding- Studying the quantitative genetics of rice gene discovery and functional characterization of previously identified genes- DNA sequencing, genotyping, phenotyping, as well as applied bioinformatics, R statistics to analyze and predict rice genomics data- Outlining the key concerns to be solved, formulating technical approaches & gathering data to solve problems- Coordinating with project partners, educational institutions and other stakeholders for integrating innovative practices- Supervising and providing training and mentoring to staff including technicians, young research fellows, interns and students- Writing Scientific publications, project reports and presentations at conferences and meetings- Prepared reports, documented and handed over the project in Germany and India- Procured and managed quality of rice products for distribution amongst the farmers- MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel proficiency
