Community Support Specialist/ Intensive In-Home Therapist
Current• Currently provide one-on-one behavior therapy to children and adolescents, while supporting their families • Encourage, model, and teach appropriate behaviors in the community and at home• Utilize specific therapeutic strategies and activities according to children’s individual needs• Identify any concerns that may fit for the client and result in an emergency: homicidal ideation, suicidal ideation, self-harm, physical aggression, threating to harm others, threatening others• Walk family through identifying when situations are escalating into a crisis: such as raising voices, arguing, client or caregivers becoming frustrated, and mood changes.• Identify behavior patterns that increase conflict• Teach family strategies to reduce conflict: active listening skills, relaxation techniques, take a break, and other conflict resolution techniques such as fair fighting techniques• Identify ways to decrease risk of self-harm, such as redirecting them to hit softer objects• Practice walking through potential situations and how to handle them, modeling
