About Diana Gesto
I always knew I wanted to be a scientist. Ever since I was a kid I loved to know more and more things and developed an incredible and insatiable curiosity. Now, after many years of study, I have finished my Ph. D. in Chemistry, and I finally know what it is like to not only read about the things that other people have discovered but also be able to discover new things on my own.I started by graduating in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and right after that, I embarked on a quest to become a Master of Biochemistry as well. During my Master's degree, I was introduced to the field of Computational Biochemistry and immediately fell in love with it, since it allowed me to learn so much about proteins, which I always found extraordinary little biomachines.I now know a lot more about proteins, and other biomolecules as well. I have learned how to model them, simulate their behavior under different conditions, study their catalytic mechanism (in case they are enzymes), dock other molecules on their active site and study how they interact with one another. I have acquired some other skills as well: I am proficient in English and can speak other languages as well, I learned how to code using Python, how to use Linux and the basics of image manipulation with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape. As part of my hobbies, I have learned a bit about 3D design using OnShape, and would like to develop this skill further. I also love learning new languages, writing and image/document editing. I know that there are many things I have no knowledge about (yet), but if you think some of my skills are of any use to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Listed skills include Theoretical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Enzyme Kinetics, Quantum Mechanics, and 28 others.
