River Network supports over 700 grassroots river and watershed-based organizations with training and technical services, publications and online resources. The Leadership Development team I lead is responsible for building environmental leadership and supporting the development of sustainable and effective watershed protection initiatives across the country. We deliver on this mission by providing direct consulting services, facilitating coalitions and coordinating peer learning networks at the regional and national levels. Our team supports organizations across multiple areas of nonprofit management, including leadership development and transitions, strategic planning, fundraising, financial management, program evaluation and more. We also support organizations across a number of program areas, including watershed protection and planning, planning and implementing advocacy campaigns and designing more inclusive community engagement initiatives.Our team also supports national and statewide networks. I serve as coordinator for the 75+-member National Water Trails Managers’ Network and the nearly 400-member Urban Waters Learning Network, providing financial support and meeting facilitation, training, peer-networking, information exchange and funding services.I am responsible for the Leadership Development Program’s annual budget of $600,000/year, overseeing all tasks related to developing funding proposals and reports and ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting mechanisms.

Provided training and consulting services to local, statewide and regional watershed organizations on an array of organizational development and technical areas. Assisted in the administration of a small grants program, including soliciting and reviewing proposals, disbursing funds and monitoring projects.

TREC has a vision of leaders, organizations and diverse coalitions working effectively for environmental protection, conservation, and sustainability in Western North America. TREC cultivates effectiveness by providing premier capacity-building services, delivered in-depth and over time.

Provided training and consulting services to local watershed organizations on an array of organizational development and technical areas, including leadership development, campaign and project planning, grassroots fundraising & organizing, strategic & annual plan development, using the Clean Water Act, and influencing local zoning decisions. Organized a variety of regional and statewide conferences designed to build the skills of grassroots watershed advocates. Supported programmatic/organizational budgeting and fundraising, including grant research, proposal writing, major donor outreach, and event planning. Developed, published and disseminated written materials to build organizations’ capacity.

Conducted environmental reviews of federal projects, addressing water quality, public access and endangered resources impacts, in coordination with federal, state, and local agency staff. Performed all tasks related to grant management and project monitoring, including providing technical assistance to applicants and coordinating reviews of proposals.

Designed, planned and oversaw all aspects of ongoing 2-day Basic Wetland Delineation training and statewide Coastal Stewardship symposium. Developed, produced and disseminated educational and promotional materials related to Great Lakes coastal resources.
