•Develop positive relationships with colleges & universities•Plan & assist with post-secondary transition services for high school students (college visitations, college applications, scholarships, etc)•Provide necessary information for students regarding PSAT, SAT, & ACT•Present on various socio-emotional issues (academic integrity, cyber-bullying, etc…)•Support teachers in the implementation of socio-emotional course offerings•Plan & help with school events•Help facilitate transition programs for new students•Efficiently track course credit history & maintenance student transcripts•Facilitate credit recovery effort for any necessary students•Serve as a resource for implementing drug & alcohol free initiatives•Help staff address student concerns (excessive absences, at-risk behavior, mental/physical health, family/peer relations, etc)•Communicate high expectations & show an active interest in student progress•Consult with parents & students as needed and provide individual & group counseling to students with identified concerns & needs•Report evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law•Support homeless families•Participate in professional growth opportunities to remain current with innovative guidance strategies•Participate in school-based trainings, meetings, & professional development•Work with staff to decide on appropriate student placement within the high school curriculum.•Consult & collaborate effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators & other educational/community resources regarding students•Use available technology resources to enhance the counseling program•Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, & ethical standards of the school counseling profession•Work to prevent students from dropping out & counsel students to help them make better choices•Each semester, conduct meetings with students to discuss the credits attained & future course plans•Participate in meetings & complete any assigned tasks

I work with adolescent high school students and help them focus on academic, personal/social and career development so they achieve success in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.
