I have developed a portfolio career initially working as a GP to fit around bringing up my family. My GP skills and knowledge have been useful in my next career as a Palliative Care Doctor. I incorporated 2 Clinical Assistant posts to further my knowledge of Diabetes and Oncology and later I had the opportunity to work as a Registrar in Nottingham's Queens Medical Centre and Hayward House hospice - one of UK's leading University towns and home of Palliativedrugs.com amd PCF series of Palliative Care formularies. My Palliative Medicine knowledge and research skills were further increased by completing the Diploma and Masters in Palliative Medicine from Cardiff University. I have been actively involved in audit work, improving medical guidelines, teaching and helping run weekly medical meeting and journal club in various jobs.I have been involved in developing one daycare unit into a more structured facility with patient MDT assessment and 8-12 week attendance. This opened the service up to a wider number of patients providing both medical and social care.I enjoy working as part of a team and am able to incorporate the views of the wider MDT into my management plans. I communicate well with GPs having personally worked in this field and love promoting the concept of Palliative Care from diagnosis to end of life. I particularly enjoy teaching a variety of staff of all grades and experience. I consider teamwork is one of my strength and am interested in developing the teamwork approach by helping an organisation to develop a skilled workforce to provide high quality EoL care for patients. I particularly enjoy the challenges of working in the Community and liaising with GPs. My GP husband and I have had the opportunity to emigrate to New Zealand in 2014 and I am looking to develop my Palliative Care career here.2016-Moved from North Shore to Taranaki Hospice and was medical team leader until a Palliative care consultant was recruited.Interested in qualitative research in Palliative medicine currently.
