- COVID-19 Support for multiple KIPP Public Schools in the Bay Area. - Monitored data portal, including specific review of test results 24-48 hours after test collection from each school. - Supported the regional pandemic coordinator with the information needed to report to the local county health department.- Set up and maintained testing stations, performed COVID-19 tests, collected test samples, scanned them into the data system, safely packaged them for transport, and coordinated shipment to the state lab for processing.

Diana was a Spanish language coach for the UC Berkeley on-campus VHIO club. Being a Spanish language coach involved teaching a Spanish medical terminology and interpretation semester course to prospective students looking to become Spanish medical interpreters in the Bay Area. A language coach is in charge of teaching medical terms and some human anatomy in Spanish, creating and administering exams to students, and administering exam and project grades.

The BUILD Literacy Developmental program is one of the largest reading programs in the Easy Bay designed to provide one-to-one afterschool literacy support to children. A BUILD literacy student mentor provides literacy support to underrepresented youth who need additional educational support. The role as a mentor involved keeping track and updating the reading logs of children, setting reading goals for each child so they could advance to the next reading level, attending weekly staff meetings, and having effective communication with the parents of each child to discuss literacy achievements, concerns, and weekly activity plans.

Diana was involved in research on how patterns forms during development and change during evolution using a genetic approach in the threespine stickleback fish, a species complex that has repeatedly evolved head skeletal adaptation. Tasks included cleaning fish tanks, sterilizing equipment, performing water changes, testing and recording fish tank water quality using pH tests, and reporting any unusual fish behavior.

Focused on SF preterm birth review study and contraceptive clinical trials for the UCSF department of ob/gyn. Research work focused on interviewing mothers in Spanish from low-income Hispanic communities in the bay area. They were asked a series of questions regarding their prenatal care, at-home support system, methods of transportation to and from the hospital, living conditions, stress levels, and coping mechanisms, and their experience when they gave labor. Interviews were recorded and transcribed into documents.

Filed and scanned department documents, kept the mailing and faculty list up to date, and updated newsletters for the MCB department website. The skills used in this job were working with word excel, Microsoft excel, word document, and word PowerPoint.

The medical/ nursing internship provided the opportunity to shadow nurses and physicians from various medical specialties to gain more insight into the medical field in a hospital setting. Work and shadowing took place in the emergency room, oncology unit, NICU, ICU, and radiology unit performing basic hands-on work. Such clinical hands-on work consisted of taking the blood pressure and temperature of patients, transporting patients, changing bed sheets, sterilizing medical equipment, and filling outpatient discharge paperwork.
