uGSI for MCB 141: Developmental Biology. Taught 2 discussion sections (~20 students each). Developed discussion materials and worksheets, held office hours and exam review sessions, wrote and graded quizzes, handled accommodations, gave feedback on lectures and exams to the instructors of record.

Served as Head Peer Advisor for the 2022-23 school year. Gave feedback on student applications for research programs and advised students in a weekly drop-in hour and via email. Presented on URAP, SURF, Haas Scholars, UCDC, and other programs housed in the OURS office at events, info sessions, and workshops. Coordinated meetings and managed scheduling with the other peer advisors and OURS staff.

Project centered on sleep in the jellyfish Cassiopea xamachana. My honors thesis findings indicated that the cholinergic system has an evolutionarily conserved role in wake promotion and that Cassiopea displays sleep-dependent cell proliferation. For this project, I helped develop the first RNAi protocol for use in jellyfish. Experimental approach also included molecular cloning, in situ hybridization, qPCR, EdU assays, and antibody staining. In this role, I trained and supervised 5 other undergrads.

Awarded SURF Rose Hills Independent Fellowship. Presented findings in May at the International Cassiopea Conference and gave a final presentation in August.

Taught two three-week intensive research bootcamps (Spring 2022, Fall 2022). Covered probe synthesis, in situ hybridization, antibody staining, skeletal preps, brightfield and fluorescence imaging, Xenopus staging. Models: Xenopus, Drosophila, threespine sticklebacks.

Teaching assistant for an introductory biology lab course. Demonstrated lab techniques to the class, answered questions throughout class period, wrote quiz questions, proctored exams. Course content: molecular biology techniques (PCR, gel electrophoresis, plating), microscopy, bioinformatics, vertebrate anatomy.

Awarded SURF fellowship (Rose Hills Experience) for Summer 2021. Presented findings at the 2021 SURF Conference in August.
