As Co-President of Women in Business (WIB) at San Diego State University, I have the privilege of leading a community of ambitious women dedicated to professional and social development. In this role, I oversee and create opportunities that empower our members through alumni panels, insights from women leaders in the workforce, and skill-building workshops focused on LinkedIn, resume development, and financial literacy. WIB allows me to foster growth not only in myself but also in the future leaders of the business world.

As Vice President of Finance for HBSA, I am responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s financial operations. In this capacity, I develop and monitor annual budgets, ensuring the effective allocation of resources for events, guest speaker engagements, and professional development initiatives. We bring in accomplished Latin and Hispanic guest speakers from the workforce and host workshops that address critical topics like imposter syndrome and Hispanic representation in business, all while maintaining fiscal responsibility and supporting the organization’s mission.

Gained hands-on experience in various aspects of financial operations and analysis. I assisted with management and executive presentations, contributed to quarterly close processes, and provided financial support to various departments. By conducting market research, gathering data, and compiling business analytics, I helped improve market and competitive intelligence. I also had the opportunity to work on robust projects that sharpened my practical skills, including participating in an intern group project focused on a SWOT analysis of our compute department. Throughout the internship, I developed proficiency in software such as TM1 and Tableau, and significantly sharpened my Excel skills. This experience deepened my understanding of financial practices, reporting tools, and day-to-day accounting functions, while honing my ability to contribute to specialized projects and ad-hoc tasks.
