Launched in 2002, Charisma has many years of experience working with charities across the UK and all our consultants are passionate about the Third Sector; having either supported, volunteered or worked within charities before joining the recruitment consultancy.

I was responsible for pitching our hospitality and entertainment packages to a wide range of different businesses who would come to Team Sport for their staff away days or to treat their clients. The role involved face-to-face meetings with business across the UK, creating bespoke proposals and working closely with the venues, organising successful events that met the needs of the clients. I also organised coffee mornings and events with the local Chamber of Commerce to promote our facilities to local businesses.

For four years, I worked as a consultant for the UK's largest charity recruitment consultancy. This involved creating a constant pipeline of staffing requirements from charities across the UK and abroad. I would attend key industry networking events, meeting regularly with our current clients and researching new charities. I ensured that I fully understood their business requirements, so that we could tailor our response to meet that need. From the regular pipeline of opportunities that I brought in, I was able to work closely with our team of talented consultants to enable us to successfully appoint for junior, mid-level, director and CEO level appointments across the UK, on a contingent and retained basis.

I was responsible for managing the exhibition stand and sponsorship sales for the Professional Lighting and Sound Association's (PLASA's) annual trade show. PLASA is an ethically motived membership association which was set up to support the needs of the lighting and audio industry and we promoted and maintained safety procedures, ethics, regulations, innovation and investment across this sector. This annual show was held at Earls Court, along with our spin-off show held in Leeds, called PLASA Focus. The role involved working with our events, marketing and operations teams to put the events together and to help develop the show design, layout and programme content. I regularly travelled to networking events in the US and Europe to meet with our existing clients and to pitch for new business opportunities.

I managed all the advertising and sponsorship sales for the special reports that we produced for this financial magazine publishing company, working on their two flagship titles, Hedge Fund Manager (HFM) and Captive Insurance Review. It involved a great deal of international travel to pitch to relevant service providers to discuss the benefits of supporting the magazines with sponsorship. I spent much of my time visiting leading international law firms, accountancy firms, banks and and prime brokerage firms based all over the world to discuss the magazine in detail and see how we could partner up with them to help them raise awareness of their brand. My role took me on regular business trips, visiting the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Channel Islands.

Responsibility for securing all advertising contracts for a local travel trade magazine based in Hong Kong, managing all accounts. Pitching and winning clients such as Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Sri Lankan Airlines and The Thailand Tourist Board. Assisting the editor by writing advertorial features for clients such as the Macau, Thailand and Malaysia Tourism Boards. Making regular business trips to Macau and around Hong Kong to pitch clients and to secure annual advertising packages for the magazine. Networking and building relationships with leading advertising agencies.

Selling the benefits of offshore financial planning to ex-patriot clients in Hong Kong through telephone communication, networking and organising social events to develop business opportunities. Working closely with a Senior Financial Consultant for one of Hong Kong’s leading financial planning groups, providing administrative and sales support.
