The key focus of this role was to lead on the development and management of NHS Hampshire premises for the population of Hampshire. This included being responsible for the effective and efficient performance and management of:• Facilities and asset management function, ensuring that appropriate lease and cost recovery arrangements are in place across all NHS Hampshire premises• Leading the estates planning cycle ensuring adequate input from commissioners and stakeholders• Contributing to the estates rationalisation development plan and watching developments within NHS Property Services Limited• Capital strategies to inform the development of NHS Hampshire owned premises• Lead the development of the trust estates strategy• Responsible for the sustainable and carbon management agenda for NHS Hampshire. The organisation was one of the leaders in sustainability in the NHS and has saved substantial amounts of carbon.I ensured that capital assets owned by the trust were fit for purpose and that the estate and asset management plans fit with the strategic direction for commissioned services including primary care. This included effective joint arrangements with local authorities and other partners. I ensured that there was effective public and patient involvement in the development of strategies and plans relating to capital schemes.Taking overall responsibility for estates, asset management and capital planning, which included developing the strategic direction of facilities management to ensure that the infrastructure meets the needs of patients, visitors and staff, securing new or improved facilities and decommissioning/disposing of those that cannot efficiently become fit for purpose. This role operated in a matrix management style, leading multi disciplinary teams comprising of finance, service providers, commissioning, public health and service reform.
