Coordinated a broad, volunteer-based citizen grassroots effort to promote the restoration of the America's Everglades and the protection of the estuaries within the Greater Everglades Ecosystem. She analyzed government policies/ reports on key ecosystem restoration projects in help educate/ inform the grassroots base. She co-chaired the Everglades Coalition's Growth Team which monitors development projects that might impact the Everglades and facilitates the team's drafting of position letters and resolutions.  In addition, she supported Sierra's grassroots efforts to defend our environmental progress at the federal level, including building strong collaborative relationships with a diverse group of partners and supporting nationwide movement building efforts. She prepared press releases, organized press events, rallies and marches, and represented Sierra Club in coalitions. Among others, she helped coordinate collaboration among various organizations planning marches across Florida during People's Climate March and supported efforts to defeat an anti-solar constitutional amendment by setting up a statewide phone bank, recruiting volunteers to work at polling sites and coordinating 2 simultaneous press events.

The Everglades Coalition is a nonprofit alliance of local, state and national organizations dedicated to full restoration of the America’s Everglades. In the contracted role of Administrative Coordinator, I supported the Coalition's execution of its mission and financial objectives as guided by its Board of Directors Co-Chairs. Facilitated communications and coordination among the 50+ organization members of the Everglades Coalition. Supported policy-related activities, including timely voting and sign-ons on policy papers, position statements and letters to decision-makers. Assisted in the planning and facilitation of meetings among members and Board of Directors, including identifying venues and preparation of agendas, minutes and handouts. Assisted in the planning, facilitation and promotion of the annual Everglades Coalition Conference, including coordinating sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, volunteers, plenary/ breakout panels, field trips and fundraising activities such as silent auctions. Supported the annual Everglades Action Day in Tallahassee, FL by helping arrange travel/lodging needs, motivate citizen participation, and organize teams for legislative meetings and a lobby training session. Maintained the Coalition’s official records, website and social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and others. Process member dues and maintain membership records. Prepared profit and loss financial statements in accordance with non-profit Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Supported Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and North Perry General Aviation Airport (HWO) planning. Contributed to airport master planning process in support of comprehensive county and regional planning efforts. Evaluated impacts and benefits of airport improvement/ expansion projects. Conducted studies of airport properties and facilities. Review airport development projects for conformance with FAA-approved Airport Master Plans and Airport Layout Plans. Supported geospatial data collection efforts for a multitude of projects, including airspace obstruction studies/ mitigation plans, passenger signage & wayfinding master plans, and landside transportation enhancements. Managed work assigned to planning, engineering and survey consultants. Scoped and negotiated contracts. Managed the implementation of FAA-mandated Airport GIS (AGIS) data collection & submission requirements. Evaluated adherence to FAA Advisory Circulars to meet grant obligations and support FAA's NextGen enhancements to air travel safety and capacity. Leveraged federally-mandated local GIS data collections to improve planning, operational and financial decisions. Worked with all airport divisions to evaluate and propose geographic-based solutions that integrate location intelligence with business data, including environmental, transportation, business, properties, facilities, operations, capital improvements, subsurface utilities, security/safety, emergency preparedness and noise programs. Coordinated Aviation GIS User Group and Steering Committee meetings. Represented airport-related planning interests at local and regional policy making bodies, including ongoing initiatives related to climate change adaptation, sustainability and multi-modal transportation development. Volunteered support and provided recommendations to county inter-departmental sustainability initiatives, including lending expertise in the areas of ambient noise and light to a pilot community rating program.

Provided geographic analysis and regional water supply long-range planning support for 16 counties in South Florida. Researched and analyzed regional water levels, water uses and demographic data in support of water supply demand projections and groundwater modeling. Analyzed land use and land cover changes to determine wetland impacts from groundwater drawdown by permitted utilities. Compiled data, performed geographic analysis and automated generation of drawdown and flow animations in support of regional groundwater models that forecast impact to water resources and regional water demands and evaluate alternative water supply scenarios. Performed geographic mapping and analysis in support of the Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI), an effort addressing water demands across a region managed by 3 water management districts. Volunteered personal time at community outreach programs that educate the public on water conservation measures. Represented SFWMD within the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact and coordinated with state, federal and academic partners in reaching regional consensus on key processes related to analyzing and communicating sea level rise vulnerability and uncertainty. Assisted in the coordination of efforts among GIS analysts from four counties, maintaining momentum and technical integrity, and working with NOAA to create regionally-consistent inundation vulnerability maps. Provided significant contributions to the “Analysis of the Vulnerability of Southeast Florida to Sea Level Rise” report and authored the supporting report titled “Regional Methods for Mapping Sea Level Rise Inundation Vulnerability in Southeast Florida”. Her contributions were acknowledged within the “Regional Climate Change Action Plan” released in March 2012.

Analyzed user GIS requirements from multiple departments, as well as proposed, designed and implemented technical solutions and associated project plans. City departments served included: Building, Planning, Zoning, Public Works, Economic Development, Capital Improvement and Transportation, Police, Fire-Rescue, and others. Evaluated impacts to other IT systems and business workflow processes. Assisted with the management of the City’s GIS Team, which included preparing fiscal budgets, reviewing bids, developing project plans, tracking activities, overseeing work assignments, approving timesheets and reviewing contractor invoices. Assigned, supervised and evaluated work tasks assigned to GIS developers, data specialists and other technical personnel related to land management projects. Developed GIS technical standard procedures and metadata guidelines. Helped administer and optimize ArcSDE/ SQL Server databases to improve security and performance. Designed and implemented ArcSDE/SQL Server data models and versioning workflows. Wrote functional and technical specifications for GIS solutions, including ArcGIS Server/ArcIMS/.NET GIS web applications. Developed ETL scripts to support data transformations and editing workflows. Prepared technical documentation (including data dictionaries and ERD diagrams). Evaluated and planned ArcGIS desktop and server upgrades. Served as internal ArcGIS license manager. Setup of a city-wide GIS network share and work flow processes. Prepared presentations for managers and end-users, as well as how-to guides. Represented the City at local and national conferences via presentations and publications. Served as the FL municipal government and South Florida representative in the Florida Statewide GIS Coordination Steering Committee and contributed to the writing of “Florida's Strategic Plan for Statewide GIS Coordination”, finalized in April 2008.

Provided GIS data management and planning support on a number of projects in several disciplines, including: utilities and asset/facility management, environmental/natural resources, transportation/transit, emergency management and urban community/ school planning. Collected and analyzed spatial data to support planning of new community transit routes in Palm Beach County and of four major extension projects for the Miami-Dade Expressway. Planning parameters included population growth, land uses, concurrent projects, traffic generators, activity centers, transit routes, and data from transportation regional planning models. Provided on site GIS assistance and training to support capacity analysis and planning of future projects for Miami-Dade Public Schools. Compiled an extensive library of geographic datasets to support facility planning processes, including Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) data, school attendance boundaries, pedestrian crash data and school enrollment data. Collected parcel, land use and other data inputs and developed processing tools to estimate hurricane debris volumes and staging requirements for community emergency response plans. Trained users in the use of FEMA HAZUS-MH (a planning tool for forecasting hurricane impacts and analyzing mitigation scenarios). Prepared proposals and budgets. Conducted presentations and training to public agencies about the use of GIS in projects that included planning processes. Researched spatial data sources and analyzed impacts to environmentally-sensitive habitats and water quality from planned infrastructure transportation and water/wastewater projects. Performed a comprehensive needs analysis and interviewed several state transportation agencies across the US to develop agency-wide recommendations for a GIS Master Plan for District 4 of the Florida Department of Transportation.

Managed, marketed and supported the database, GIS and 3D visualization services for the northeast region of the company in a wide variety of environmental/ ecological studies and risk assessments. Customized relational databases for technical environmental data and document management in small and large-scale projects. Met the GIS & database needs in a wide variety of projects, including water allocation studies, environmentally sensitive mapping, risk assessment and site characterization studies. Data researched and analyzed included: aerial photography, SSURGO (USDA soil layers), digital topographic maps, satellite imagery, wetlands/land use, FEMA flood data, CAD drawings, TIGER coverages, and site-specific data collected during field evaluations and laboratory data from both fixed and mobile laboratories. Worked closely with laboratory/ government computer programmers to ensure successful submittal of electronic GIS data to clients/government agencies. Worked with federal/state environmental regulations and guidelines including ASTM, Superfund, RCRA, NPDES and UST. Also, provided local IT support. Administered the local Novell network, tracked/purchased hardware and software resources, developed and enforced internal computer-use policies, assisted in merging the LAN to the corporate WAN, provided software/hardware help to all users, performed file server backups, and helped administer the local ccMail database and associated routers. Received a Technical Achievement Award.

Provided a wide range of environmental consulting services, as well as in-house computer/database support. Planned and supervised site investigations, including ground water and soil studies. Field activities included: drilling soil borings; installing monitor wells; sampling soil, groundwater and surface water; and supervising soil excavations during remedial activities. Researched and analyzed large repositories of historical files at state and local agencies to help determine time/spatial trends and evaluate potential point and nonpoint pollution sources. Conducted and reported facility environmental audits for property transfers, as well as technical research to support expert testimony/ litigation cases. Customized environmental Access databases to assist the internal/external clients in regional environmental research and in litigation support. Analyzed and presented results of environmental studies, both orally and via technical reports. Communicated with clients, regulatory agencies, attorneys and general public. Administered the company's compliance with state regulations that required submittal of environmental data in GIS-compatible format. Developed relational Access databases to manage client contacts, field equipment, computer resources, and project files. Assisted the accounting department by preparing customized MS Access reports. Coordinated efforts to establish an Internet presence for the office. Trained staff in the use of several software packages (including ArcView and Access), via one-on-one and in-house seminars.
