Over nineteen years of experience in complex civil litigation including: employment law, insurance defense, contracts, business torts, construction law/professional negligence, personal injury, representation of public entities, Construction Law/Professional Negligence: Defense of professionals and trades in construction context. Commerical and residential. Issues related to soils, asphalt, concrete, materials testing, foundations, etc. Employment Law: Representation of both plaintiffs and employers, with emphasis on defense, in employment claims arising under Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, ACRA, Arizona wage statutes, and tort and contract common law; Defense of EEOC charges/preparation of employer position statements and responses to requests for information; Advising employers regarding employment policies and assistance in drafting same. Representation of Public Entities: Representation of public entities regarding a variety of claims including employment law, constitutional/civil rights claims arising under Section 1983, personal injury, claims of negligent street or road design; business torts; Knowledge of notice of claim statutes, public employer immunities, merit system protections and reviews; and administrative appeals. Appellate Work: Appeals and/or defense of appeals in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Arizona state appellate courts, special actions, administrative reviews, and employer personnel/merit hearings.
