As a member of the organization's leadership team, I managed a team of six professionals responsible for all print and social media, newsletters, as well as policies designed to increase membership. I developed and facilitated several clean energy working groups on energy storage, electric vehicles, and biogas with dozens of energy stakeholders and communicated these discussions. The output of these convenings resulted in energy policy change in North Carolina. Finally, I successfully fundraised for clean energy policy work on behalf of the organization. During my three year tenure, I oversaw the fundraising and development of an energy storage study for North Carolina, increased business membership for the organization, and spoke on energy issues throughout North Carolina and the Southeast.

Instructor in the Master in Public Administration (MPA) program at NC State University. Designed and created four new courses in the MPA program - U.S. Environmental Policy, Written Communication for Public Policy Professionals, Special Topics in Public Policy, and Effective Communications.

As a member of the Institute’s policy team, my job was to plan, develop, execute and the annual Emerging Issues Forum and dozens of other policy convenings throughout North Carolina. I served as the policy manager for issues related to the environment, energy and infrastructure and worked with leaders throughout the state in this capacity.In my position over the past 10 years I accomplished the following:•convened North Carolina leaders on how the state should respond to EPA's proposed Clean Power Plan; •advised the community college system on training the state’s green workforce; *summarized and published an article on the entrepreneurial co-working environment in NC;*worked with the NC Dept. of Environment & Natural Resources on the implications of minimum ecological flows on the state's water policy and permitting systems;•facilitated numerous community meetings on the networked, high technology manufacturing in the state; *executed several large convenings of over 1,000 attendees on topics ranging from energy, entrepreneurship and manufacturing; and,•received the N.C. Sustainable Energy Association’s Outstanding Leadership Award on behalf of the organization for work on the economic development opportunities in the new energy economy.The Institute for Emerging Issues is a think and do tank housed at North Carolina State University and chaired by former Governor Jim Hunt.

One of seven-member team responsible for the preparation of the city’s $460 million annual operating and capital budgets. Department budgets included solid waste, public safety, information technology, and public works. Special projects included development of the city’s disaster policy, analysis of the city/county E-911 center, costs and benefits of the city transition from backyard to curbside residential solid waste collection, and work with the police department to move to a district or precinct system.

Served as assistant to political appointee in charge of over 2,200 employees in the environmental side of the Department. Acted as advisor to Assistant Secretary in all matters of her working day. Involved in strategic planning on legislative matters, educated and negotiated with outside stakeholders on environmental policy matters, and acted as intermediary between the Assistant Secretary and the Division Directors. Responsible for development of budget for seven divisions. Key staff to General Counsel of the Department on issues related to regulatory reform, including the Department’s policy for self-reported violations, permit streamlining and economic analysis of rules. Developed software tool with General Counsel for response to state mandate for economic analysis of major department rules.

Chosen as one of a class of fellows to work in the federal government upon graduation from Harvard's Kennedy School. Worked in the Office of Policy, Planning & Evaluation Division of EPA in President Clinton's administration. Staffed Presidential Initiative on Environmental Technologies, drafted updates to the Regulatory Impact Analyses Guidelines. Spent nine months on a detail to NC DENR before leaving for full time employment there.

Served as research assistant for the Quality of the Environment Division at RFF. Position included Identifying, reviewing, and synthesizing academic and policy literature; supporting quantitative and conceptual modeling, and supporting econometric analyses. During the two year position, I jointly authored a number of research papers on the application of economic incentives to energy and environmental issues.
