Hearing "I didn't know you were an actuary!" is a testament to how I've turned this identity into my superpower.I'm an experienced non-profit and public company board member. I'm a collaborator who brings thoughtful questions and commentary into any boardroom. I'm a leader and a partner who can navigate a range of boardroom cultures, from the traditional "noses in but fingers out" to the start-up "hands-on" environment. During my various board tenures in the financial services arena, I've been involved in successful acquisitions, led governance tune-ups, and introduced enterprise risk management frameworks. As an executive, I have a track record of delivering financial results and targets. Under my leadership, a 100-year old organization underwent a successful cultural change when we introduced dynamic and collaborative working in both physical and cultural mindset. Lean management and operational efficiencies are in my DNA. As an actuary, I am data-driven and thrive working in assumptions and model development. And as a former risk officer, I have proven experience in developing fit-for-purpose governance for an organization. I understand the costs and types of waste and I am constantly challenging the status quo to identify and reduce unnecessary waste.During my three years as CEO, I introduced changes within my organization that improved agent and customer service, reduced operational expenses, and improved overall employee engagement. My leadership team implemented a new, modern, policy administration system, on time, and under budget. I lead with courage, and can balance business results and strategic project prioritization.It brings me joy to help others.
