As an independent consultant, I provide strategic business guidance to pharmaceutical, biotech, device and diagnostic companies. Typical recent assignments have included:--helping to maximize a product's potential by developing strong marketing and branding programs based on customer needs and benefits, --developing a business plan for a new company entering a novel and rapidly changing business area, --enabling senior management to reduce the risk of product development by providing market-based direction to research and development planning, --expanding a company's business potential by identifying significant new market opportunities for current products,--identifying and interviewing thought leaders in specialized area of medicine to provide research and development guidance to senior management for a unique clinical development program.

Responsibilities included all aspects of developing the OTC business area for Syntex. Identified new OTC opportunities, defined their business potential, formalized business recommendations to senior management and implemented agreed on plans. Served as Syntex General Manager for Joint Venture between Procter & Gamble and Syntex to bring Aleve and other JV products to market. Aleve was the first OTC drug ever to sell over $100 million in its first year; it was the most successful sell-in of a new product to retail customers in P&G history.

Directed department of 15 Product Managers and Product Directors responsible for the marketing of all Syntex pharmaceutical products from pre-launch through patent expiration. Supervised creation of long-range strategic plans as well as an annual marketing plan and budget for each product, with a total annual departmental budget of over $60 million.
