Greater Seattle Area

As a freelance legal secretary at various law firms in primarily Seattle and Bellevue, I often worked for a length of three to four months for firms in need of coverage for maternity leave. I was offered a permanent position at virtually every law firm with which I worked. In 1993, as a new mother, I moved from a full-time coverage position to 1-2 days per week, with the majority of my work at the Seattle offices of Davis Wright Tremaine. In late 2000, I chose to stay home to raise my three children.

I began my career at this small law firm in the capacity of receptionist. Within nine months, I was promoted to office administrator, performing such tasks as client billing, accounts receivable and payable, and ordering of supplies. I held this position for three years until I was ready for a more challenging role. I accepted a legal secretarial/word processing position, which also involved light paralegal duties, where I stayed for the next four years. Franklin & Bersin, which has since disbanded, was a small firm practicing in many areas of law, including cooperative law, small business, real estate, estate planning and civil litigation.
