Founder And DirectorYoungworldinventors.Com & Africanmakersmedia.Com 2010 - PresentBoston, Kenya, East AfricaYoung World Inventors makes web videos about the people and process of invention, to make them authentic, shareable and engaging for global audiences. In 2014 we filmed village inventors who solved their own problems through invention, coached by a Tanzanian inventor we follow with our cameras. We document stories for radio and television broadcast. Why? Stories like Bernard Kiwia's, a Tanzanian whose life changed after meeting another Guatemalan inventor.New Rwandan stories include a cartoon producer hired by a BBC company to animate a new TV show. A determined Rwandan won 4 prizes for a solar powered kiosk in Kigali, after failing at 3 other startups. A half Maasai stove designer moved back to Kenya to reduce 95% loss of forests, and an 18 year old Kenyan has made smokeless GreenChar from sugar cane waste to put a dent in the 4.3M deaths from cook fires each year -- more than malaria, AIDS and TB combined.YWI was a semifinalist with this RWANDA video [http://bit.ly/1g27M4P] and a finalist for Tribeca New Media Fund. Director, Producer, WriterMi Casita Documentary Feb 2017 - PresentGreater Boston AreaMI CASITA is a feature length documentary in progress, aimed for national public television broadcast. The film follows three visionary Latinx youths on a mission to save their beloved hometown of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Riding a wave of protest started by a 2012 Boston Magazine article that dubbed the poorest city in Massachusetts as the “The City of the Damned,” these three illustrate the vibrant life, learning, and politics that defy the outdated image of Lawrence. Through sustainable enterprise, educational reform, and self-discovery through art, these activist youth reveal the social and emotional turmoil that comes with reconciling the American Dream with hardcore reality.Mi Casita was awarded two grants from the LEF Moving Image Fund. In March of 2018, Salem Film Festival invited us to pitch at their “Doc-a-chusetts Pitch,” a competitive pitch of local documentaries for industry panelists and a live audience.https://www.micasitadocumentary.com/
