Not to compare myself to Albert Einstein, but I must use his words and describe myself as passionately curious. My desire to continuously learn is like a flame that cannot be put out. It is this relentless burning that has led me to the field of nursing after previous careers.My love for children, families, and people in general is obvious if you look at my past jobs. Starting with a career in special education, I learned about patience, creativity, and saw firsthand how everyone is unique. Discovering the importance of early intervention, I decided to work for a non-profit organization as an early intervention specialist, teaching families how to help their child’s development. Continuing to fuel the fire, I left to start my own business providing behavior therapy to children with severe behavior concerns. Experiencing the growth of these children and witnessing the effect it had on the family unit was extremely moving. It was in providing families with references for needed services that I discovered more about the various opportunities available in the field of nursing. The constant learning required in nursing is only one aspect I absolutely love. The opportunity to educate, help, and emotionally support individuals excites me. I look forward to being involved in the nursing community and making a difference in the field.
