I work with older adolescents up through older adults—individuals and couples—to help them find the joy and passion in their lives. I provide depression treatment, anxiety treatment, marriage and couples counseling, parenting counseling, and help individuals improve self-esteem and job and career satisfaction. I'm committed to helping people become satisfied in love, work, and play! When people envision psychotherapy, they often think of the stereotypical therapist they see in movies, who sits out of the patient's sightline and repeatedly offers variations of "hmmm," "yes" and "how did that make you feel?"I don't do that!My approach is interactive and engaging. Yes, I listen closely, but I also speak. I create a warm and collaborative exploration, based on trust and even occasional humor. This allows patients to feel comfortable and safe working with me in person, as well as by phone, so my practice includes people in the NY tri-state area, as well as throughout the world. I also focus on reality—I won't promise that all of your dreams will come true. If you want to win "American Idol," but are over 30 and can't sing...I just can't make that dream come true for you! But, I will work with you to create a path to identify and work toward realistic goals and expectations. I will also help you evaluate how both negative and positive factors from your past shape your present, so you can keep what works and change what doesn't. Before starting my full-time private practice, I worked at NYC Employee Assistance Program, providing assessment, referral, and advocacy for voluntary and mandated employees from 40 NYC agencies on issues including chemical dependency, domestic violence, mental and physical illness; job, bereavement, relationship, retirement, financial, stepfamily, parenting, and eldercare issues.I consult with national EAPs to help employees with the issues that interfere with satisfaction in their professional and personal lives.
