The book explores a vital question relevant to inclusive talent practices that is relevant today: What had to be so for a child born and raised in extreme poverty in Britain's industrial North in the Great Depression era and World War II to become a doctor who practiced medicine in a Harvard teaching hospital and taught a generation of Harvard Medical School students—later becoming a Captain in the US Navy Medical Corps?
