  • Plan and lead quarterly ABC Action News "Community Advisory" meetings. Create a series of reports on various community issues and work closely with local and state leaders on pertinent issues. Write and distribute correspondence updating members on news, activities, and events. Share information with staff in planning coverage.• Create, produce, and moderate a one-hour monthly “Candid Conversations” presentation with selected community experts assisting to educate and guide our news staff and management on how to plan, frame, and report stories by eliminating implicated bias and stereotyping and providing fair, accurate coverage while understanding cultural sensitivities. • Research information to provide editorial decision-making on stories for general assignment and in-depth, enterprise, and discretionary investigative reporting in alignment with WFTS Community Voice and Scripps Corporate branding. Assign crews.• Schedule and interview newsmakers, including top-ranked leaders and elected officials.• Maintain working relationships with police, fire, and government Public Information Officers to gain accurate, timely, and actionable public distribution and broadcast information. Maintain and update PIO contact information for WFTS personnel.• Dispatch photographers and crews to stories with appropriate logistics and equipment.• Take incoming phone calls from the public with concerns and news tips while monitoring police, fire, and emergency management scanners and wires for possible breaking news.
