Diane Cochran Work Experience Details
  • Robot Puffin
    Co-Founder
Robot Puffin Jun 2021 - Present
  • Improbable
    Principal Software Engineer
    Improbable Nov 2019 - Feb 2022
    London, England, Gb
At Improbable I was asked to leverage my extensive experience in large scale game platform development to create and manage a team responsible for building out a system for their internal studios. The intent was that this platform could also be leveraged as a white label solution along with their game server hosting activities to provide a turn-key solution for both internal and external customers. I assembled the team and we created a platform that included identity, entitlement, authorizations, matchmaking, player/game data and PC/console identity federation within a year and a half. This platform was used to launch Scavengers and was also used white-label by several industry customers to either build or prototype products. I left Improbable with them changing company focus into blockchain projects and the subsequent shedding of their game operations.
  • Blizzard Entertainment
    Lead Engineer
    Blizzard Entertainment Apr 2018 - Apr 2019
    Irvine, Ca, Us
I spent the last year of my time at Blizzard forming the engineering team and starting work on an unannounced game project within the Incubation group. Using Unity as a tool for easy prototyping and pulling in my experience in CI/CD, we set up always available builds for the design team and executive stakeholders. This earned me and my team tremendous praise for the speed in which design could work and the transparency of the state of the game at all times.
  • Blizzard Entertainment
    Group Technical Manager
    Blizzard Entertainment Jan 2015 - Apr 2018
    Irvine, Ca, Us
In 2014, I was tasked with re-forming Web & Mobile, the consumer oriented arm of the Blizzard technical organization. Under my guidance, the team grew to over 100 engineers working on all of our web properties, consumer mobile apps, and the corresponding back end infrastructure, drastically speeding up our ability to create engaging out of game experiences for consumers. While there, I worked to establish W&M as a technical center of excellence, guided a Java to NodeJS overhaul of our websites with no downtime, created the stats engine used by our eSports properties and instituted numerous other initiatives to allow my engineering teams to explore new technologies without losing focus or becoming overly fragmented. During my tenure there, I was one of the highest rated managers in the company, praised for my ability to help protect and guide those in my org.
  • Blizzard Entertainment
    Senior Software Engineer Ii
    Blizzard Entertainment Aug 2012 - Dec 2014
    Irvine, Ca, Us
In August of 2012, I moved from a DevOps role back into pure engineering, acting as the lead for several projects within Battle.net. During my time here, I created an OAuth provider and several API services to allow our regional teams to operate independently, pushed to have the system opened to the public and worked to provide a real face for our developer community at https://dev.battle.net. While in the position, I also helped with the content of the Battle.net Desktop App screens, created the Unified Auth system that our websites and Hearthstone for iPad use, shepherded the acquisition of the IPL engineering teams, and lead efforts to ensure that the Overwatch website was in place by Blizzcon.
  • Blizzard Entertainment
    Senior Reliability Engineer
    Blizzard Entertainment Dec 2010 - Aug 2012
    Irvine, Ca, Us
I was brought on to manage the entire QA and deployment process for the Web & Mobile group of Battle.net within Blizzard Entertainment. This included creating tools, instituting software technology decisions and guiding the team into a fully automated deployment solution. In the process of doing my work, I set up a virtualized QA environment that consists of over 200 machines and is entirely self managed by the team at large, a continuous integration setup with over 500 jobs and a BI platform off of splunk helps diagnose live issue and provide dashboards into running applications. In addition, I served as a technical resource in diagnosing unusual items that the engineering team as a whole cannot.
  • Syneron Medical
Director Of Web Development / Ebusiness
    Syneron Medical 2007 - Dec 2010
    Wayland, Massachusetts, Us
I managed the entirety of software development for Syneron, covering everything from consumer websites to being the principal developer for a company wide BI platform. Developing primarily PHP based services with a smattering of Java work for specific technologies, I gradually worked to move the company from a pen and paper institution to a technology driven organization. Reporting directly to the CIO and CEO, I developed and implemented the technology strategy to align Syneron and our recent acquisition Candela Corp.
  • Youmail, Inc
    Subcontractor
    Youmail, Inc 2007 - 2007
