Many people only know me as the journalist who broke the story of the child sex allegations against Michael Jackson in 1993. My book on Jackson, "Be Careful Who You Love: Inside the Michael Jackson Case," was published by Simon and Schuster/Atria Books in 2005. But I have authored four books, the most recent explores the vast and abusive adult guardianship system in the US. "We're Here to Help -When Guardianship Goes Wrong" is published by Brandeis University Press and dropped Sept. 2023.Besides books I have in a vast body of work from my days in television, radio and in newspapers.✭ I’ve interviewed infamous convicted murderers: James Earl Ray, Kenneth Bianchi, Jeffrey McDonald, Pamela Smart and Richard Allen Davis ✭ Covered notorious criminal trials including: Casey Anthony, Senator John Edwards and Jerry Sandusky. My articles can be found at TheDailyBeast.com✭ My book, Cirque Du Salahi delved into the shoddy journalism behind the so- called “White House Gate Crashers.” I provided an exclusive look at the lives of Tareq and Michaele Salahi and dissected the intersection of national media, politics and “Reality TV"✭ My 14 year old weekly column for Creators Syndicate was designed to get readers to look at our justice system through a different lens. Sometimes, I introduce an unforgettable character. Other times, I focus on an injustice and share my opinion on ways to make it better. The columns made a book called "Thinking Outside the Crime and Justice Box." After decades in front of the camera – primarily as a crime and justice correspondent and news anchor – I joined a team involved in developing a new genre of television. The Video Call Center is the brain child of Tom Wolzien, veteran broadcaster, media analyst and entrepreneur.
