- Our weekly podcast covered sustainability topics focused on the home and landscape; interviews with key thought leaders; and ran for approximately 30 episodes- We offered a range of online and in person hands-on classes in sustainable landscaping topics- We applied for and won a six figure grant to install water conservation measures to disadvantaged communities in the north east part of San Diego county- I built and ran our website (Squarespace), our social media presence (Facebook) and our online reservations. - I taught sustainable landscaping classes to homeowners across southern California- The classroom based classes were highly scripted to provide complex information in an entertaining and accessible way to homeowners- The hands-on classes provided homeowners with the direct experience of implementing water saving measures in the landscape - Working on various grant funded initiatives addressing water conservation in the landscape, either as an instructor, a course developer or being involved in public outreach events- Promotion of programs via web (Wordpress and Squarespace) and social media (Facebook and Twitter using automation tools such as Hootsuite and Tweetbot)- I created and managed a sustainable landscape consultation program that was rolled out across southern California, called Garden Gurus- I had cross-functional responsibility for the successful on-time and on-budget delivery of a million dollar state grant contract with the San Diego County Water Authority and several other non-profit organizations, including Surfrider Foundation

I built and ran an award-winning residential landscape design/build company for 10 years, holding a CA landscape contractor’s license (C-27) and becoming a California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) Certified Water Manager I ran a crew of up to 6 installers, specialist subcontractors and a team of 3 designers and office support staffMy responsibility as owner included landscape consultations and designs, sales and marketing, contract negotiation, recruitment and management of staff, project management of installations, and administration tasks such as payroll, equipment purchase, I built a strong brand using a combination of the early adoption of a website (HTML, CSS, Wordpress), email newsletter (Mailchimp), YouTube channel and social media presence (Facebook)

I consulted with different business groups, and facilitated the transformation of their business processes. I produced training materials, promotional materials and gave business presentations. I created and facilitated cross departmental user groups, and fed back into the development team the user needs/wants.I devised, organized and executed an internal expo which allowed the different business groups to share their newly created web tools and resources, gaining them recognition for their work, demonstrating to others the importance and flexibility of this newly emerging tool, while at the same time proving the business case for our small, experimental multi disciplinary infrastructure team. I represented the Sandwich site as part of a global group who worked to ensure the security and compatibility of the intranet across research sites around the world. I created and managed a communications and control center for Y2K. During the first few days of 2000, the communication center became the hub for the complex computing infrastructure and business software’s validated shutdown/startup process, keeping senior management, and local and global teams informed of progress.
