The Chicago Yacht Club Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to bringing the joys and benefits of boating to all, with primary focus on youth from underrepresented communities in Chicagoland. The Foundation connects with children to provide them with immersive sailing, powerboating, and other on-the-water and around-the-water programs centered on Lake Michigan. In these programs, the participants learn critical life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and independence, while nurturing a love of the water.

Led strategic direction, mission-driven activities, and business functions of 3,000-member 501(c)3 association. Facilitated governance work of the Executive Board and worked with 20 standing committees, forums, and task forces and partners to implement programs including legislative advocacy, the iREAD summer reading program, the "ILA Reporter" (journal of record), other publications, an annual conference and other continuing education, membership development, and fundraising. Oversaw ~$3.3 million budget plus long-term investment funds, supervised staff of four plus contractors.

Responsible for managing the collections and services available through the Butler Children's Literature Center. The Butler Center offers an examination collection of newly-published books for children and teens and a series of professional development opportunities including a monthly discussion series, Butler Book Banter (B3) and the annual Butler Lecture, among others. In addition, the Butler Center houses significant historical collections including the Ellin Greene Storytelling Collection and the Effie Lee Morris Collection of African American Books.

Responsible for marketing, communications, and program management for the School of Information Studies, and managing the collections and services available through the Butler Children's Literature Center. Responsible for marketing, communications, recruiting, and program management for the School of Information Studies, which offers an ALA-accredited MLIS, a Master of Science in Information Management, an undergraduate major in informatics, a PhD in LIS, and specialized certificates. Collaborate on behalf of the school with the university's marketing and enrollment management departments to prepare and carry out marketing and recruiting plans, develop collateral materials, oversee web content development, social media outreach, and digital marketing efforts; represent SOIS at professional conferences and recruiting fairs; produce and promote a series of signature lectures; coordinate publicity for major events and school achievements.

Directed operations and business functions for 4,300-member nonprofit association, a division of ALA. Supervised staff of 7; managed $1,000,000 budget with additional revenue from grants and endowments; worked with Board, Executive Committee, and 60 standing committees to advance ALSC’s mission and goals; conducted advocacy and outreach on behalf of ALSC and youth librarianship. Served as an ALA unit manager, including participating on cross-unit teams to develop association-wide initiatives. Major achievements include membership at peak level (more than 4,000 for the first time in the division’s history) and working with ALA’s development office to secure the first national sponsorship for the initiative El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), Target Corporation.

Wrote, copyedited, and proofread articles; maintained magazine’s Web site; organized collection of books submitted for review; wrote captions; processed contributor payments; prepared editorial information to support advertising sales; represented Book Links at library and educational conventions; reviewed children’s and parenting books for parent publication Booklist. From September 2003 through January 2004, covered Editor's and Associate Editor's maternity leaves; joined the staff full-time in May 2004.

Responsible for marketing 60 new and more than 600 backlist children’s trade books per year. Planned company presence and events at conventions; arranged author/illustrator appearances at bookstores, schools, libraries, and conferences and handled sales of books for events; submitted books for awards and review; created promotional materials; pursued publicity and developed contacts; designed databases to organize schedules, contacts, and award information.
