I focus on connecting the causes of food insecurity with relevant and actionable Real World Learning (RWL) projects designed specifically for high school culinary classrooms. I actively supports Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Family and Consumer Science (FACS) educators across Missouri and Eastern Kansas, with the creation of standards-aligned lesson materials, skills-based recipes, and travels to classrooms giving presentations to high school students to de-stigmatize food insecurity and promote food recovery efforts. I also provides professional development to educators, and directs the project management of Kids Feeding Kids in classrooms across Missouri and Eastern Kansas throughout the school year. The Kids Feeding Kids curriculum engages both students and educators in real-world, service-learning projects through skills based cooking lessons that contribute to a student's Market Value Assets. By connecting classrooms to local community agencies where families experiencing food insecurity can access these student-prepared meals for free, culinary students are also engaged in service learning and community service.I'm uniquely qualified for my work with Kids Feeding Kids because of my dual careers and recognitions in K-16 education and the hospitality industry.

The English Language Specialist Program is the premier opportunity for leaders in the field of teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) to enact meaningful and sustainable changes in the way that English is taught abroad. Through projects developed by U.S. Embassies in more than 80 countries, English Language Specialists work directly with local teacher trainers, educational leaders, and ministry of education officials to exchange knowledge, build capacity, and establish partnerships benefiting participants, institutions, and communities in the United States and overseas.Since 1991, the English Language Specialist Program has supported in-country, virtual, and mixed projects in which hundreds of TESOL scholars and educators promote English language learning, enhance English teaching capacity, and foster mutual understanding between the U.S. and other countries through cultural exchange. During my project with high school teachers throughout Peru, I designed and facilitated intensive teacher training, and advised high-level COAR school administrators during educational consultations. These projects are challenging and I am honored to be counted among those selected who represent the best of the U.S. TESOL community.

Develop curriculum for and teach asynchronous English literature and composition courses comprised of students participating in APU's Summer Upward Bound Academy. The efforts of our summer writing projects will culminate in an anthology of student self-selected work and a virtual open mic for invited guests. The RPDC at UMKC is an organization of highly qualified education consultants providing training and support for urban, suburban and rural school districts. The Sr. Educational Program Manager provided a full spectrum of consultant services, professional development, and coaching support to all levels of leadership and staff. This included on-site and virtual technical expertise in an assigned, 16-county region focusing on best teaching and learning practices. Conducted needs assessments for school districts. Designed, delivered, and evaluated professional development for effectiveness and desired outcomes, including the collection of participant feedback to refine and improve content. Continually researched emerging trends in teaching and learning methods. I am credited with creating, coordinating, and leading the first regional professional learning community (PLC) advancing the development of policy, practice, and pedagogy. These PLCs continue to influence and advocate state education policy for Missouri ELLs.
