I served as a communications strategist and spokesperson for the House Natural Resources Committee and Congressman Raúl M.Grijalva, the top Democrat fighting for environmental justice. I oversaw all communications activities and messaging strategy for the Committee, which included writing media and public-facing materials, maintaining the website and social media channels, and working with stakeholders on outreach activities. In addition, I built and fostered strong relationships with a diverse range of reporters and media outlets. I also managed in-bound press inquiries, developed and pitched creative ideas, and simplified and briefed reporters on complex policies.

I launched my career in communications at PainePR, now Citizen Relations, where I conducted grassroots outreach and partnership development for the Network for a Healthy California campaign for the California Department of Public Health. The campaign sought to empower low-income Californians to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity and food security. I helped develop and implement proactive PR campaigns to educate local communities about services available through events, media outreach, and marketing materials.
