About Diane Roberts

I’m a software engineering and Product Leader with over 20 years of experience in software engineering, product development, and team leadership for well-established technology companies (Sonos, FullArmor, and Bose). Throughout my career, I’ve quickly picked up new languages and technologies. Most recently as a Senior Director at Sonos, I served as editor-in-chief of the software organization's Best Practice documentation portal and the executive sponsor of the Tech Blog. Our Best Practice project significantly decreased the time to onboard new hires, allowing their first contributions to come in the first two weeks instead of months after starting. My particular interest is in user interface design and development, and I’m skilled at connecting the voice of the customer with tangible work plans. My hands-on engineering experience includes Android, Windows, web, data reporting, and embedded firmware. I’m also knowledgeable in AWS, cloud computing, and data engineering. Known for being a people-first leader and fostering an inclusive culture of collaboration, I empower teams through strategic vision, storytelling, mentorship, and a robust engineering foundation. My proven track record of leading large teams, setting clear expectations, delivering high-impact projects, and hiring top talent to achieve excellence showcases my ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, inspire confidence, and drive the team to succeed. With my theatrical and musical background, I build stories and bring people together around them, and with my computer science background, I am able to see through the details in order to move the big picture forward. I also bring humor and interactivity to presentations and brainstorming sessions. I can engage everyone, from the CMO to a junior engineer, and keep them interested.Fun facts about me: I hold 7 US patents, I am a classically trained dramatic soprano, and I am an avid collector of board games.• Leadership: Storytelling, Product Strategy, Communication, Scrum, Agile Methodology, People Management, Mentoring, Hiring, Performance Management, System Design, Architectural Guidance, Process Definition• Mobile Applications: iOS, Swift, Objective-C, SwiftUI, Android, Kotlin, Java, Jetpack Compose, Multi-Platform, Dart, Flutter• Desktop Applications: Windows, C#, C++, WPF, MFC, macOS, Objective-C, AppKit• Embedded: Linux, RTOS, C/C++• Full-Stack Technology: Cloud, AWS, Java, TypeScript, Web Applications, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XSLT, C#, Silverlight, Data, SQLite, MSSQL, SSRS
