Through my role within the Quality Innovation Network (QIN-QIO) division facilitated quality improvement efforts in Colorado, Illinois, and Iowa by working directly with health care providers and communities on system improvements. Using out-of-the-box thinking to customize a plan to create successful QI projects that include; technical assistance support, coaching, data analysis, education, sharing of evidence-based practices, presentations, and targeted interventions in order to meet both the federal contract deliverables, the needs of the providers, community, & more importantly reduce harm and connect value based payment opportunities with direct patient care.

A subject matter expert for the Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) with efforts focused on reducing all-cause patient harm and 30-day readmissions; specifically technical assistance and development of educational initiatives on clinical topics (i.e. antimicrobial stewardship, fall prevention and mobility, sharps safety practices, & social determinants of health initiatives).

 Administrative oversight responsibility for all aspects of operations including direct supervision of approximately 16 staff personnel with a fiscal budget over 1.0 million. Increased overall home care and hospice revenue by eighteen percent in one year and renegotiated a twenty-seven percent increase in public health funding to align the agency for sustainability to serve the community. Cross-trained RN staff which resulted in improved productivity, service coverage, & workload collaboration, & reduced agency overtime. Served as Electronic Health Record Project Manager in 2015 for the agency software implementation; clinical documentation, revenue cycle management and administrative management. Through system enhancements and leadership decreased A/R days from 210 to 37 within 7 months.  Developed a Survey Readiness program for both home care and hospice. During tenure led staff through two successful Iowa Dept. of Inspection and Appeals re-certification surveys with minimal findings. Accountability and direct oversight of Quality and Infection Prevention programs for a 25-bed critical access hospital with two rural health clinics, and a home care and hospice division with contracted public health services. This included direct activities of infection surveillance, medical staff peer review activities, and quality improvement activities.
