A consultant for analysts and scientific instrument manufacturers across all industries. Specialising in gas chromatography, mass spectrometry and related techniques, particularly sample introduction and comprehensive GCxGC-TOFMS. Diane's specialities are GC, GC-MS, GC-ToFMS, GCxGC-ToFMS, LVI, TD, Py, SPME, HS, PTV, SBSE, HPLC, LC-MS, data analysis, sample analysis work-flow improvements, applications and troubleshooting.Diane is also an expert witness for analytical chemistry including anti-doping in cases up to Olympic gold medalists, giving evidence in the International Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne.Diane delivers training, consultancy services and presents at numerous seminars and conferences around the world, including presenting in the Royal Society of Chemistry theatre at LabInnovations every year since 2015.Diane was admitted to the Royal Society of Chemistry as a Fellow in June 2016.Diane was elected as a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry Analytical Division Council in July 2016 and also served on the small grants & travel grants, international and CPD committees.Diane was elected as the next President of the Analytical Division of the RSC in 2019 and served 1 year as President-elect before commencing the 3-year role in July 2020, which changed to President of the Analytical Sciences Community in July 2022.Subsequently, Diane is a trustee of the Analytical Chemistry Trust Fund (ACTF) and was the Chair from 2020-2023.Diane was chair of the scientific committee for the Analytical Research Forum (ARF) for 2021-23 and was on the committee from 2018. Diane is also on the scientific organising committee for the Solutions in Science (SinS) conference for the 2023 & 2025 events and the International Symposium on Chromatography, ISC 2024 conference.Diane has been a trustee of the Recycling Organisations for Research Opportunities (RORO) since September 2015, works extensively with the RSC Pan African Chemistry Network (PACN) and has been a member of the Government Chemist Programme Expert Group since 2020 alongside numerous RSC committees.Diane completed her part-time PhD in 2017 with her thesis 'The development and evaluation of non-invasive methods to characterise the disease states of patients utilising selective discrimination, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and chemometrics’.
