I shared financial oversight for the $48B Federal funds awarded to international organizations through HHS’s major operating component Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Led numerous international audits in this senior auditor role that included overseeing $315.7M of awarded funds and $277M of expenditures. I provide leadership and direction to a staff of five in four field offices while providing monthly audit progress to executive management.Notable Contributions:Promoted and contributed best audit practices that advanced HHS-OIG's goal and objectives to fight fraud, waste, and abuse and achieve quality, safety, and value through audit excellence and innovation.Collaborated with international CDC country offices, government organizations, nonprofit organizations, commercial organizations, hospitals, and universities, overseeing the timely completion of 10 Federal audit projects totaling $324.3M for HIV/AIDS prevention and control, including treatment and care.Demonstrated advanced mastery of relevant Federal laws and regulations, policies, financial reporting, and internal controls, that reconciled up to $50M in expenditures to identify an inaccuracy in reporting in FFR (Federal Financial Reports).Throughout my career, I identified $35.4M of improper payments or unallowable services, and $25.7M of undetermined costs during 19 HHS-OIG audits of $1.7B Federal dollars awarded for public healthcare, global healthcare, and contract programs.Devised 45 procedural recommendations in 19 audit reports that addressed organization infrastructure, program compliance, internal control design and testing, budgetary systems, budget execution, and accounting systems.
