Having spent my career within the Insurance Industry, it was a role supporting a software platform being utilized at Berkley Technology Services (BTS) that brought me to BTS. At the time I joined BTS, I wanted to be part of an organization with more of a familial culture, that was actively using the applications I was involved with helping to develop from the outside. My prior experience was great in that it allowed me to immediately contribute when I joined BTS and from there, the rest is history.Over my time at BTS, I’ve had opportunities that I’ve both driven, and that I’ve been tapped for; all of them fueling my career growth. I’ve never been silo’d here; I’ve been able to explore, take on tasks and projects that were entirely new, even outside of my official job description, move between teams, and make an impact. I’m constantly learning new things and that’s really motivating. And as I’ve moved into roles where I’ve managed teams, I’ve been part of those teams as well. Being able to remain a working manager has afforded me opportunities to both share business objectives and collaborate with my teams to foster innovation and idea generation. I know what they do every day and they know they have my support as we move our projects forward. To name a few, I’ve worked on varied and complex technical projects, spanning UI development, application customization, new system changes, functionality enhancements, QA/Automated testing, and now an enterprise-wide project that will modernize technical platforms that will eventually be leveraged across the 50+ operating units that make up W.R. Berkley Corporation, of which BTS is one. An Iowa native, when I’m not at work, you’ll find me reading, traveling, watching HGTV’s home improvements shows and visiting restaurants like the Iowa Taproom across the DSM metro area.
