Specific functions include: responsible for assigned direct reports, collaborate and support manager with staff evaluations, nursing documentation, incident reports, patient flow/census, staff/family education. Serve as patient/guest service ambassador, and assist with problem-solving while on duty. Additionally, coordinates ancillary staff and nursing assignments for current and upcoming shifts. Participate in hourly rounding to ensure compliance and safety of units. Ensures that services are provided within the philosophy and objectives, as well as the policies and procedures of hospital. Evaluate caregiving and follows up appropriately. Assists nursing staff during an emergency/code. Acts as resource for nursing staff, develop staff to make independent decisions within the scope of responsibility, serves as nursing/patient advocate by acting as liaison with physicians, family and other hospital department and ancillary staff. Works in conjunction with admitting for efficient and appropriate patient bed placement. Works closely with Staffing office and assist with staffing issues. Monitors timely admission and discharge of patients. Monitors acuity level of patients to ensure safety or transfer to higher level of care. Informs manage or director of any unusual patient, staff or operational occurrences. Assist PCM/Director with staff performance evaluations, counseling and disciplinary action as appropriate, staff hiring or termination process. Supports patient family centered care by routine rounding. Actively participates in performance improvement expectations for department. Monitors the unit for strategic goals and objectives i.e. patient satisfaction scores, employee satisfaction scores, clinical excellence, NDNQI, nurse sensitive and hospital quality measures. Provides direct patient care as needed per entity standard.

Responsible for delivering care for up to 6 patients, administer medications (including cardiac IV drips), conduct complete head-to-toe assessments, provide direct personal care, input computer charting data, review labs and diagnostic procedure results, implement plan of care and interventions as ordered, evaluate patient outcomes, prep patients for procedures, communicate with family members and professional staff, provide care and compassion to patients, apply critical thinking and application of nursing content with theory, delegate accordingly, provide patient education and execute discharge instructions.
