My life has never been lived as a straight line! Instead I have been fortunate to follow different paths in my professional life. The first half of my career was spent in the banking industry. I enjoyed working in many business and financial roles, including clinical research, project management and fundraising, but something was missing. I went back to school and achieved my second degree with honors, a bachelor of nursing. I finally found what filled my soul. I was excited to go to work everyday. To help patients and my fellow staff still motivated me. The next 11 years was spent as a professional registered nurse and than leader in the same hospital. I hold experience in acute, critical and observation patient care throughout various locations within hospital with an emphasis on telemetry and neurology. I have a passion for detail. Big picture is important, but when you’re dealing with lives, it’s often the details that matter. My main focus the last 6 years has been in patient and staff management, giving me the basis to show mentorship, leadership, monitor quality indicators, patient service experience, and staff training. I pride myself on my past exemplary patient safety record. I have developed life long relationships with staff and my leadership scores were the highest in the department. I thrived these last 11 years in the acute care hospital setting. I never knew a profession could be so rewarding or give me so much. I enjoy what I do and it defines who I have become. However, change is inevitable. As of 2024, I am now embracing my newest role as a utilization management nurse at Humana and I am thrilled to move forward. Certified: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS stroke scale, NDNQI pressure injury, Frontline Leadership.
