I am a builder - I build teams, careers, innovations, and inspiration. A motivating, positive- focused global nursing leader with >35 years experience in nursing, research and intervention development, and Higher Ed administration. Recognized as a global expert in sexual risk reduction interventions, talent identification and development, military and veterans health, international partnerships, and mentoring the next generation of diverse leaders. My board experience ranges across healthcare, non-profits and educational institutions. As a US-UK Fulbright Scholar my research efforts to reduce sexual risk in adolescent girls took me to Edinburgh, Scotland. Just prior, I had been selected as a fellow global nursing leader for the International Council on Nursing's 2016 Global Nursing Leadership Institute in Zurich, Switzerland. From 2010-2016 I was the proud dean of the College of Nursing at University of South Florida and senior associate vice President for USF Health. Together with faculty, staff and students, we transformed healthcare and transformed lives locally, nationally and around the globe. Spearheading tremendous growth in research, education, international partnerships, donor commitment, community involvement, veterans and military initiatives and college infrastructure, we catapulted up the national rankings in all areas.As a scientist, and nurse practitioner, I’ve dedicated decades to promoting women’s health and reducing HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unintended pregnancies with a focus on adolescent girls. As a result, I developed the Health Improvement Project for Teens (HIPTeens), recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an evidence-based HIV/STI/pregnancy prevention intervention with strong outcomes. As sole owner of HIP4Change, LLC, I provide face-to-face training in HIPTeens implementation for community and healthcare agencies (HIP4Change.com).
