In my role as Economic Development Officer, I work to support over 8000 local businesses and partner organisations. I assist businesses to navigate and connect with services offered and supported by the City of Greater Bendigo. I coordinate business development events and opportunities to respond to common issues and underlying needs of businesses.I produce and coordinate publications, such as the Business Matters newsletter, the City of Greater Bendigo’s source for local business news. I coordinated the 2021 Business Grants Fund, a $729,000 business grants program aimed to assist businesses in investing in innovation and expansion after the impacts of COVID-19.

In my role as Tourism Industry Development Officer I developed resources, provided guidance, coordinated training and facilitated collaboration across the region's tourism industry. I worked with the tourism industry to inspire and support the creation of products and experiences to fill gaps in the market, that were unique to Bendigo and/or could leverage off major events and exhibitions.I coordinated Bendigo's first tourism conference, Bendigo NEXT, with speakers who are tourism leaders across the state and country.

As Marketing, Events and Retail Manager at the Discovery Centre I created promotional materials and digital content, maintained the website, and drove campaigns. I undertook strategic direction of events and products, event coordination and calendar management, and managed projects such as the retail overhaul and new website development.I managed retail sales and purchases, including budgeting, financial reports, use of financial software, researching products, purchasing, pricing, inventory monitoring, and product display.After I redeveloped the retail space I was able to increase retail sales by 300% to support my full time employment with the Discovery Centre.

Bendigo

I began volunteering with LCMS in August 2015, and also worked on projects on a commission basis such as the Bendigo Festival of Cultures. Shortly after I applied for and was successful in gaining the position of part-time Community Development Worker. In this capacity I provided support, mentoring, consultancy, and advocacy to migrant and refugee community organisations including assisting in registering for organisation status and writing grant applications. I oversaw the introduction of Welcome Dinners to Bendigo, and coordinated the first community Welcome Dinner which was the largest in Victoria at that time. I coordinated Bendigo and Islam workshops with organisations throughout Bendigo. I created promotional materials, social media and e-newsletter content, and performed website development.

Castlemaine Visitor Centre

My role at Castlemaine Visitor Centre is to coordinate daily operations and provide administrative support to the Team Leader of Visitor Services. I provide supervision and support to volunteer staff, assist visitors, coordinate exhibitions and events within the building, maintain accurate records, compile newsletters, coordinate brochure stock and merchandise displays, report statistics, perform daily banking, and assist with the development and delivery of projects.

At Museums Victoria I worked across three campuses: Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks and the Immigration Museum. I performed administration and reception duties for staff, members and customers, following different protocols at each site. My duties included accessing and modifying databases, paging individuals, receiving and directing telephone calls and visitors, lodging maintenance requests and investigations, coordinating with security over operational issues, updating and modifying meeting schedules, taking messages, and organising Teacher and Member identification cards.I maintained a detailed knowledge of displayed works, ticketing systems, venue hire and booking protocols. I conducted tours, delivered public talks, answered enquiries, and represented the Customer Service team at inter-departmental exhibition meetings. I also volunteered for projects, including the ‘Explorer Club’ – a Scienceworks initiative to run fun science workshops for children. I designed multimedia presentations, games and content for the Explorer Club that related to upcoming exhibitions at Scienceworks.

My role with the Victorian Multicultural Commission was to assist with their annual community consultations. I ensured that our booked spaces, catering and equipment were sufficient for the number of participants expected, and ensured that all necessary materials were packed. I answered calls, faxes and emails and updated our participant database. I took general enquiries, assisted with ad hoc administrative tasks, and also liaised with other government departments such as the Department of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship. I assisted in facilitating the consultations, setting up equipment and materials, facilitating discussion amongst participants, and taking minutes. In addition to these tasks I also devised a system to gather and analyse participant feedback on the consultations themselves, and collected, entered, collated and analysed this feedback for a report to be included in the VMC’s annual report to the Minister of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship.

As Executive Assistant to the CEO of the Centre for Excellence in Intervention and Preventative Sciences I provided administrative assistance to the CEO and other senior staff. I managed the CEO’s correspondence and schedule, created reports, memos and agendas, liaised with internal and external stakeholders, booked meeting spaces, took minutes, and coordinated mail-outs. I took general enquiries, and provided information about CEIPS’ research and programs. I compiled and produced reports for the CEO as requested. I also performed financial administration, reconciling accounts and assisting with payroll.

My role at ACMI was to provide quality customer service in a busy exhibition environment, ensuring the safety of visitors and exhibited works. My duties included checking tickets, instructing visitors in the use of audio guides, cloaking belongings, and providing information and assistance in the gallery spaces.
