Direct capacity planning activities associated with the Sales and Operations Plan, Master Schedule and Materials Requirements Plan. Coordinate production initiatives cross functionally to ensure availability of resources. Proactively manage and develop a team of four Production Planners and one Materials Demand Specialist to implement the manufacturing plan, while minimizing manufacturing obstacles. Drive continuous improvement to improve key levers such as production lead times, OTIF, inventory levels, capacity, cost and productivity. Key Achievements Determine quantities and place purchase requisitions for strategic and long lead time items, including pivots and push/pulls from JT Hardware & Harnisch, outside metal from Superior, Western & inter-company locations and aluminum billet from Metalco. Implemented new programs to shorten lead time on existing products. Specific custom doors are supplied in 25 days versus the average 44 day lead time and some doors sent down the auto door line are supplied in 4 days versus the average 10 day lead time. This was achieved by identifying high turnover products and placing strategic inventory on the manufacturing floor.  Corrected work order release process to eliminate unnecessary work orders. Work orders are deleted by bar code before release to the production floor to eliminate the possibility for error. Set up monthly computer workshops to improve employee engagement in the planning group.  Orchestrate annual physical inventory process during the plant shutdown. This includes defining all the necessary actions, identifying how many people will be needed by area and what the specific duties will assigned. After count is complete and loaded in JDE, reconcile discrepancies and seek strategies to improve the process.

Ensure that all purchasing processes and practices are compliant with government and medical requirements, along with national and international standards. Manage all quoting and purchases of raw materials, components, capital equipment and plant services. Successfully direct a team of (10) buyers and (1) commodity manager to support sales in excess of $275M annually. Maintain maximum quality at minimal cost, while delivering on-time to the production schedule.Key Achievements Implemented program to capture components that were not being delivered in time to meet the production schedule. These shortfalls were communicated at daily production meetings, along with the necessary action items. Support same product lines with a 60% reduction in resources.  Coordinate vendor priorities and payments to support maximum material flow, serving as primary contact for vendor payment resolution.  Obtained government clearance to access classified information.

Develop, negotiate and implement all strategic material procurement contracts. Ensure on-time delivery of $230M in raw materials for the Towanda plant. Management of these limited feed streams is critical for plant production, which results in annual sales volumes in excess of $400M. Maintain positive and strong working relationships with suppliers throughout the world. Rectify vendor conflicts involving product quality, invoice payment, pricing and deliveries. Key AchievementsIncreased company profitability by $1.5M, through the price re-negotiation of existing molybdenum inventory.Volunteered to mitigate a dispute with a primary vendor, which avoided further legal action and secured tungsten supply through the contracted term.
