Guatemala

I am responsible for trade and economy related issues at the British Embassy in Guatemala City. Main responsibilities include business environment, market access, trade policy, assistance to British companies in Guatemala and Honduras.

I also work remotely translating legal contracts for international companies, legal international trade documents, and other documents depending on the client's requirements. I excel in translating both Spanish and English and have completed in technical related fields.

Guatemala

I was part of the Guatemalan Delegation for the negotiations of the Free Trade Agreement between Central America and South Korea, as a negotiator for the Cooperation scheme. This role was important for my career development as it enabled me to experience and participate in trade negotiations on an international level. My responsibilities for this role were:- Recognize Guatemala's trade interests to other countries. - Create a draft for the cooperation chapter to include in the trade agreement.- Represent Guatemala and Central America in negotiation rounds with South Korea.This helped me to understand how negotiations are conducted using my diplomatic skills present Guatemala's interests to representatives from other countries. This experience also allowed me to apply and expand my knowledge about international trade law and policy.

Responsible for policy compliance and for setting and achieving goals according to the year's agenda and planning. My specific responsibilities were: - Creation of the 2014 list of successes according to the agenda. This required me to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of our agenda priorities. - Plan and schedule the first semester of the 2015 agenda. - Conduct policy research and analysis to the topics according to the needs of the Viceministry; - Contribute towards the optimization of processes that needed to be registered in the government system.- Communicate and collaborate with the Directors in charge of the different areas of the Viceministry. I contributed with a positive attitude, great capacity to interact and engage with people, leadership, and teamwork. My experience here gave me a greater knowledge of international trade and detailed insight into policies, laws, ethics, and innovation.

I worked within the research area and created several reports that required me to research specific subjects, and factor the most important aspects of them into my reports. Subjects of reports included:- Case law.- Country profiles (laws, polices, etc). - The direct impact of international policies in a country’s economy.- International relations analysis.- Conflict resolution.- Negotiation and policy.To ensure that the data in my reports was accurate and current, I referred to think tanks such as: Cato Institute, ICSID, Woodrow Wilson Institute, UNCTAD, WTO, ITC, Center for Economic and Policy Research, among others.The experience of working with TSA improved the quality of my work to a professioanl industry standard, and also gave me knowledge of the aforementioned subjects. More importantly, I learned skills that were transferrable for future career progression.
