1. Manage the FYTP team as they directly support students/families and McKinney-Vento liaisons in our schools. Includes Educational Access and Enrollment, Family Assistance and Referrals, Student Advocacy and Support, and Community Outreach and Engagement.2. Provide professional development and capacity building to 130+ McKinney-Vento Liaisons, central services, and school-based roles that support students experiencing homelessness. 3. Stay informed about federal and state laws regarding the education of homeless students, and work with district leadership to develop and implement policies that ensure compliance with relevant regulations and promote the rights and well-being of homeless students within the school system.

Provide DCPS Secondary HS with adjusted cohort graduation rate best practices. Identify and implement best practices for withdrawn and transfer students. Support with Re-engagement efforts for at-risk or out-of-school youth.

After nearly 5 years of working at the DC ReEngagement Center, an important program under the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, which serves as DC State Education Agency, I have been afforded the opportunity to take my experience and wisdom and help support DC's largest Local Education Agency, DC Public Schools. I want to thank members of the Postsecondary and Career Education (PCE) Division, and most importantly the Team and Leadership at the DC Reengagement Center. I have had the honor of working with youth and their families by providing case management and barrier mitigation to assist our District youth in returning to school with the intent to earn a High School Diploma or GED. While building meaningful relationships with youth, I have also had the privilege to work on policy implementation to help decrease the number of youths who disengage from education. If you reside in the District of Columbia, you are definitely aware in the spike of youth violent crimes in 2022. A recent report shared that the District of Columbia has about 7,000+ opportunity youth who are not enrolled in a school or working. This is a serious problem and a lack of engagement is causing youth crimes to continue to climb. Programs like the ReEngagement Center provide youth who need a secondary opportunity the chance to get back on track. I encourage other local cities and states to start implementing ReEngagement Center Models as it has proven to work. Thank you to all my colleagues at OSSE for a great experience.

Developed intervention plans for at-risk students by collaborating with school administration, teachers, social workers, guidance counselors, and parents to implement student success by all measures.Created and maintained relationships with school, parents, community members and community partners to obtain team leaders and volunteers for various service projects and workshops.Fostered a positive environment for daily counseling, one-on-one interactions, and small group social/academic support by creating a safe no-bullying/non-judgmental social/academic zone for students.Designed, organized, and facilitated lesson plans for an after-school mentoring program intended to build cohesion among male high school students, developed a curriculum focused on topics ranging from sex education to self-esteem. Co-planned, organized, and led Corps members and collaborated with local non-profit agencies in transformative physical service and community revitalization projects. Led corporate and local volunteers in five sponsored service projects engaging over 75 professionals and 1,500 volunteers.Educated high school students and the local community about HIV/AIDS and STIs by creating a curriculum that included prevention, education, guest speakers, and interactive workshops/training's.
