About Dibya Prokash Sarkar
As a researcher in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), I have always asked myself, "How can we create technologies that benefit everyone with a positive social interaction?" To answer this high-level question, I am exploring the way people engage, interact, and collaborate with the help of technology. My name is Dibya Prokash Sarkar, and I am an MSc. student in Computer Science at the University of Victoria. I work with Dr. Sowmya Somanath and Dr. Charles Perin. I am also member of the VIXI and CELab. Prior to attending UVic, I completed my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at North South University. During my undergraduate years, I worked on a couple of Human-Computer Interaction projects that were later published in a few prestigious conferences. Research interests include Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) and Ubiquitous Computing.I worked in various roles in the IT industry for one and a half years in Bangladesh before joining UVic. Working in the tech industry, I developed websites and analytical tools for financial institutions using ML algorithms, which introduced me to Web technologies and Data science. Having a passion for learning and solving problems, in the future I want to become a researcher, professor, and advisor to young or underprivileged Bangladeshi students.
