Officer Survival Lesson instructor for Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) VALOR Officer Safety Initiative. The program was created in response to the startling increase in felonious assaults that have taken the lives of many law enforcement officers. VALOR provides all levels of law enforcement with tools to help prevent violence against law enforcement officers and enhance officer safety, wellness, and resiliency.VALOR is a comprehensive effort that includes classroom and Web-based training, research, and resources for sworn state, local, and tribal law enforcement officers. VALOR Training provides critical nationwide, no-cost officer safety training to all levels of law enforcement. Both on-site and online training modules are developed using the latest expertise, analysis, tactics, techniques, and response methods to address alarming trends. Since the inception of the initiative, more than 22,000 law enforcement personnel have received VALOR Training.

Duties include uniform patrol and plain clothes operations in Downtown Boston, Dorchester, South Boston and Mattapan. Trained as Incident Command Vehicle Operator and acted as primary Spanish language interpreter for prisoners and detainees. Assigned to crowd control for Occupy Boston, First Night, Boston Marathon, New England Patriots games and Bruins playoff games.Trained and administered testing in Massachusetts Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) systems. Participated in anti-terrorism security inspection programs with the Transportation Security Administration and high-visibility patrol of mass transit.Actively engaged in the pursuit and standoff with the alleged Boston Marathon bombers. Injured in the line of duty on April 19, 2013 during the shootout with these suspects. Awarded highest department and state law enforcement award for these actions.Achieved highest score in the department on Massachusetts Civil Service exam and promoted to sergeant in May, 2015.
