Trained in ecology, visual design, and geospatial analysis. Working for 20+ years to develop solutions to epic climate change and conservation challenges. My own research has been focused on the interactions between land use change, biodiversity conservation, and climate mitigation and adaptation, primarily in California. At TNC, I worked with incredible collaborators in academia, private sector, public agencies, and NGOs to characterize the effects of alternative climate and land use futures on biodiversity, carbon cycling, and water sustainability. I also have deep expertise in developing conservation planning decision-support systems to guide conservation strategies and investments. Our studies often demonstrated solutions that get scaled through public policy and environmental markets.

Director Of Science For Land And Climate ProgramsThe Nature Conservancy Jul 2015 - Dec 2022Arlington, Va, UsI lead the Science team for the Land and Climate Programs in the California Chapter of the Nature Conservancy. Our team works on a diversity of issues such as deployment of nature-based solutions to climate change, the design of forest restoration projects to reduce fire risk and increase resilience, innovative protected area management, and land use planning to accelerate low impact clean energy development. My own research is focused on creating the tools and evidence to integrate conservation into land use and climate policies. I look at ways to use land conservation and nature-based climate solutions to increase ecological and socioeconomic resilience and to enhance the climate mitigation potential of ecosystems. -
