Joined Westland Helicopters in 1974 as an undergraduate apprentice and with it through the roller coaster of 'The Westlands Affair', GKN, Merlin Prime Contractorship, UK Attack Helicopter (Apache), Future Lynx (Wildcat) and the present days of AgustaWestland, Finmeccanica and the imaginatively named Leonardo. Joined when Lynx was in development and saw the first go into service; retired Q3 2016 shortly before the last Wildcat was delivered. Having completed some 'expert witness'/consultancy activities, I remain active in Engineering/Systems Engineering fields with a wonderful enterprise based in Wilts whilst also performing voluntary work with The IET & RSPB.
