As an editor and writer, I've worked in the entertainment, news and sports fields. My first book: "The Coach Who Strangled a Bulldog: How Harvard's Percy Haughton Beat Yale and Helped Reinvent Football," about the legendary coach and his great teams of the 1910s, was published in 2018 in hardcover by Rowman & Littlefield and in paperback in 2020 by Lyons Press. Since 2014 I have been a contributing editor at Harvard Magazine, covering football and other topics that interest me. From 2014-16 I helped edit Golf Magazine's weekly e-magazine SI Golf+ Digital. I helped edit the SI Basketball Book and SI College Football Book, and contributed to the best-seller "The Enlightened BracketoIogist," providing a mythical tournament involving my selections for the top 32 sports books of all time. I also have guest-lectured to classes at Harvard, Syracuse and Montclair (N.J.) State.Specialties: All sports and sports literature; U.S. social, cultural and popular history; reviews and commentary.
