Apple Tree is a nonprofit dental organization dedicated to bringing dental care to people who otherwise would be without.Many people don't have the choice of going to the dentist. This is a choice that is often taken for granted, but for nursing home residents, people with disabilities, low-income families, and others, dental care is often beyond reach. Barriers are financial, physical and/or cultural. Apple Tree's nonprofit status and mobile delivery programs work to overcome these problems because we bring care directly to people who need it most.

The UCSF Multidisciplinary Geriatric Fellowship in Dentistry, Medicine, and Mental/Behavioral Health is a two year program, funded by the Bureau of Health Professions, that offers interdisciplinary, team-based clinical, education, leadership, and research training in the care of older adults, with a focus on underserved populations. A specialist in geriatric dentistry possesses the experience, skills,and knowledge needed to advance geriatric dentistry in institutional, academic, community, and private practice settings.The mission of the UCSF Multidisciplinary Geriatric Fellowship is to train geriatricians, geriatric dentists, and geriatric behavioral/mental health professionals who will teach and improve the care of older persons, especially those in underserved populations.

The Samaritan House operates two free community dental clinic locations in San Mateo County serving the poor and uninsured. The Redwood City Clinic is located at 114 5th Avenue, and the San Mateo Clinic is located at 19 W. 39th Avenue. As Dental Clinics Director I advocated our program and developed the volunteer capability essential to serving the oral health care needs of our patients.

SMCOHC, the San Mateo County Oral Health Coalition was created in 2009 as a collaboration of all San Mateo County key stakeholders in oral health care with the intention of identifying, evaluating and finding solutions for the various problem of access to care for the County's underserved populations. The organization was formerly known as the San Mateo Dental Coalition which focused primarily on children's access to oral health care.

Providing patients in my private practice with state-of-the-art oral health information and high quality evidence-based dental care for 30 years was a rewarding career. The patients that entrusted me with their care voted our San Mateo practice among the Bay Area's Top Dentists since 2001 in Bay Area Consumer Checkbook's periodic comsumer/patient rating process three times in a row . It was a great run and I'll miss them all.

Dental care for patients at long term care facilities has to date been difficult to access and challenging to perform. As the dentist of record for MPEC and MPSN I have worked with Mills Peninsula Health Services to develop and implement a sustainable oral health care model for this patient population.
