Dick Lyon is a Research Scientist at Google. Colleagues describe him as "Several years ago I wrote a long feature article about Foveon for Discover. Foveon had invented what is still the only digital imaging sensor which reads all three colors at each and every pixel. I had a lot to learn about micro-electronics, digital photography and optics, and Dick took me under his wing and taught me much more than he had to. His erudition is amazing, but he is also a humorous and down-to-earth guy. He invited me to his home for dinner--lovely family--and showed me his diverse and fascinating collection of slide rules, an instrument that disappeared almost overnight after being THE calculating tool for centuries.
