Responsible for a six-cell 140,000 PPH Wellons wood fired boiler and a Clever Brooks 18,000 PPH natural gas package boiler. Steam is supplied to ten lumber dry kilns, a plywood plant and steam heaters. Selected in January 2015 to also supervise the fire system maintenance.

Dry Kiln supervision included the scheduling, drying, maintenance and improvements to the kilns. Responsible for five different length and four different makes of kilns. Dried lumber from two mills, a large log mill on site, and a small log mill off site. The lumber mix was dimension 2x4” to 2x12” from 8’ to 24’ long, both Douglas Fir and Hemlock. Ran both domestic and raft logs from Canada.Forecasting was accomplished by using information from the weekly sales/production meeting including width, length and grade priorities and developing the saw mill machine center pricing.Yard Supervisor responsibilities included lumber rotation, organization, cleanliness, storm and sewer drains, oil water separators and wash rack maintenance.

White Swan, Wa

Developed the weekly planer schedule and oversaw operation of seven dry kilns at two different mills and four oil fired boilers, two 600hp and two 1000hp. Dimension logs were dried at high temperature schedules and pine at moderate temperatures. Supervised and trained the dry kiln/ boiler employees as well as managed outside contractors and vendors. These included trucking, oil delivery water treatment and boiler tuning.

Yakima, Wa

Responsible for the overall management of the 18 dry kilns and lumber flow from two sawmills to three planers. Worked with quality control and sales to adjust the lumber moisture content and availability to fit the costumer needs. Trained and supervised all dry kiln employees including millwrights. Assisted plant management in developing department operating and capital budgets. Developed maintained and adjusted drying schedules to integrate sawmill production, kiln capacity, and planer requirements. Scheduled and performed maintenance of mechanical equipment, instrumentation, computer software and kilns. Selected and managed kiln coating contractors. Assessed maintenance parts needs, ordered parts and managed inventories. Developed long term relationships with key vendors to reduce costs and keep current on the latest industry technologies. I collected and maintained environmental records on steam usage and throughput to ensure compliance with Yakima Clean Air Authority and EPA emission standards. I was a member of the Boise Cascade northwest best practices team.
