I am a partner at Valuestone Advisors Ltd., sole advisor to Valuestone Global Resource Fund 1, a PE mining fund established in 2016 in partnership with Jiangxi Copper Corporation and China Construction Bank International. As head of the Vancouver office I play a key role in deal origination, due diligence, negotiations and investment implementation. I also oversee portfolio management for the fund's investments, including serving on the board of Bunker Hill Mining Corp. (CN:BNKR).I previously directed corporate development efforts in Asia for Hunter Dickinson Inc. (“HDI”), a Canadian-based mining group, raising over $150 million in new capital and broadening its Asian shareholder base. I was also SVP, Corporate Development at Continental Minerals Corporation (TSXV: KMK) which discovered and took through Feasibility Study a large copper-gold deposit in China before being sold to Jinchuan Group for $446 million in 2011.I serve as a director of MEC Advisory Ltd., sole manager of Can-China Global Resources Fund, a $1 billion mining and energy fund backed by the Export-Import Bank of China. Prior to my recent +15 year focus on mining, I was a senior executive specializing in strategy and international business with a focus on China. Fluent in Mandarin and well-experienced in Chinese business culture, I worked with an extensive group of multinationals, trade associations and government organizations with China operations, including British Petroleum, Ranger Petroleum, BC Council of Forest Industries, Government of Canada, Government of British Columbia, etc.I am a graduate of the University of British Columbia (BA, MA) and have diplomas from Beijing University (1979), Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing (1980) and Beijing Language Institute (1978). I am the author of "Chinese Paintings in the Palace Museum, 4th to 14th Century" which was re-published in a new edition by Forbidden City Publishing, Palace Museum, Beijing in late 2016.
