My mission, through my work as an executive leadership development consultant and the Co-founder and CEO of Experience to Lead, is to help senior executives become better leaders. As a survivor of Flight 1549 “Miracle on the Hudson," I have experienced disruption and chaos, both professionally and personally, and have firsthand witnessed leadership go into action.Great leadership makes a difference in the outcome of any situation and real change starts at the top of the business. One of my favorite stories of leadership is about Glynn Lunney entering Mission Control after the Apollo 13 explosion. The chaotic room became calm when he arrived. As a leader, being the kind of person where your presence changes the way work is done means that you’ve really accomplished something.I'm proud that Experience to Lead is the capstone of my career. People remember moments — moments when they were moved, surprised, or jolted into a new way of thinking. When people learn new concepts, they’re more likely to remember them if they can connect them to meaningful moments and experiences. Experience to Lead offers experiential learning programs that facilitate these powerful “moments that matter” and link them to practical, actionable leadership lessons. For most of my corporate career, I was the Executive Leadership Director at IBM, responsible for leadership curriculum, and Director of Leadership Development at ITT. My international experience includes being Manager of Management Development for IBM in Asia. I’m honored to hold two patents for organizational learning innovations and the 2019 Gold Stevie® Award for Entrepreneur of the Year in the Business and Professional Services Category of the American Business Awards.Working closely with NASA for over 8 years, I’ve learned much about the extraordinary leadership in the Apollo mission teams. I am thrilled to share an inside look in my new book: "Apollo Leadership Lessons: Powerful Business Insights for Executives." For the book’s cover, I chose the iconic image of the footprint on the moon. Why? Because after these many decades since the historic Apollo moon landing, that footprint is still there. Leaders leave a footprint on their organizations. That footprint can be positive and affect people for decades.
