Didier Caron started his career in 1996 at Commissariat a l Energie Atomique studying the mechanism of nickel-based alloys corrosion by molten salt and the influence of hydrogen on the stress corrosion cracking growth rate of nickel-based alloys in primary water of nuclear plant. He succeeded in monitoring stress corrosion cracking growth rate at high temperature by using acoustic emission and contributed to the understanding of the mechanism of the stress corrosion cracking phenomena. He was awarded by the CEFRACOR with a diploma of honor in year 2001.In 2000, he has an appointment at the technical Center for the french mechanical industry developping innovative solutions for the evaluation of pressure vessel integrity from on site corrosion monitoring and inspection up to the development of innovative solutions for the periodic verification of composite compressed natural gas cylinders or metallic equipment. He carried out numerous expertizes and trials for pressure vessels for mechanical, chemical and petrochemical Industries.He was also involved in the writting of professional guidelines and taught staff in NDT in order to be certificated along with the EN473 standard.In year 2007, he moved to Engie to become manager for R&D project in Pipeline Integrity management during 8 years.He has also led the R&D projects of the french transmission pipeline operators and the Pipeline Integrity Management Communauty of Practices of Engie for 6 years.in January 2016, he moved its position to GRTgaz (Engie's TSO) as Pipeline Integrity Senior Expert.He is Lead Expert in pipeline integrity management since december 2018 at GRTgaz providing expertise and innovation solutions for pipeline : smart repair solutions with embedded Structural Health Monitoring, vintage weld management, threat assessment, crack management and assessment, crack tool solutions and consultancy to prepare H2 transmission by pipeline.He was the Chair of the Corrosion Technical committee of the Pipeline Research Council International between march 2019 and march 2022. he is vice chair of the Corrosion TC for the crack management focus area.
